Biography
Mr. Renk grew up in Orange County, California, where he graduated from California State University, Fullerton in 1988 and Western State University College of Law in 1998. Due to his excellent grades in law school, Mr. Renk was invited to participate in Law Review and a judicial internship, which he fulfilled at Division Three of the Fourth District Court of Appeal in Santa Ana. After earning the top grade in multiple classes in law school, including criminal law, Mr. Renk graduated Cum Laude and in the top 5% of his graduating class. In 1998, Mr. Renk was admitted to the State Bar. In 2001, Mr. Renk was hired by the Riverside County Public Defender's Office. During his tenure at the Public Defender's Office, Mr. Renk's hard work and successes resulted in his promotion to the homicide unit wherein he worked for 12 years. After 20 years with the Public Defender's Office, Mr. Renk opened up The Law Office of Joel C. Renk in Spring of 2021. To date, Mr. Renk has conducted over 100 criminal jury trials, including over 20 murder trials, 2 death penalty trials, and numerous serious and violent felonies trials, general felony trials and misdemeanor trials.
